Making of a Studio
Current names for it: ShedZeppelin, Feels-Like-Makin-Loft Studios, Studio Fifty-Fusc, Wallywood Studios, Lightning Strikes Twice Studios, Elephant in the Room, and Bowl Of StudiO's. Send me your choice in my Contacts Page!
Obsessed with Gear? Hey we all loved Pretty Woman... but not THAT Gere. This is my collection of gigging and recording gear and a glimpse at the making of my recording studio in Wallingford, CT!
Shaker, tambourine, triangle, castanets, Italian sauce pots. All valuable percussion tricks of the trade!
vintage style Shure Microphone Super 55
Custom cajon drum built by my brother Jim Fusco with my autograph wood-burned in. I use the Cajon percussion kit with kick-drum attachment
Small solid state Orange bass amplifier. I don't often play bass out loud :)
One of the most versatile and easy to use electronic drum kits, I love the sound and layout of this Yamaha Kit. DTXplorer
DTXPlorer brain
The most amazing, limited edition Red, Rokit Powered 6 G2 KRK Studio Monitors. Honestly the most balanced, detailed sound I have heard in powered studio monitors. Clarify and deep richness beyond compare.
My first Uke! Picked up at a boutique store J.C. Music in Meriden, Connecticut with one of my first big paychecks from being a dish boy.

I use this Alesis HD 24 bit FireWire mixer with a LightningBolt plug adapter to record into my DAW software, typically GarageBand these days
use with Jim Dunlop and Fender hand-held chrome bars
The best studio condensor microphone out there for the money (or any money). This can hear my thoughts it's so sensitive. I use it on vocals, acoustic guitar, and overhead drums focused around the snare and hi-hats
filter mounted over the Shure KSM27 Condensor Mic
rolling studio mic stand with portable vocal booth
The best live sound you can get, especially for harmony-rich mixes. I love the portability of the Fender Passport and have gigged with it often with my old band. Only problem? It weighs as much as a black hole and didn't come with the stands.
my set of blues harps / harmonicas
a classic pedal that everyone owns at one point in their life... I got it when we started carrying it at Best Buy during my 7 years employed there. I've outgrown this sound.
the controlled bark of birch with a vintage blue to black metal-fleck burst finish
snare that came with my vintage birch kit
Signature edition Sheila E conga drums
paying homage to The Beatles and Ringo's classic kit, this Ludwig tuned birch, vintage style kit with deluxe hardware, double braced legs, extra tuners on each drum, Evans coated 2 ply heads, and the light to deep blue sparkle burst.... they sound as good and timeless as they look.
Ludwig drumkit
Sheila E
the best sound in my opinion on the brilliance-coated cymbals. Sharp and full of presence, yet deep and rich/warm sounding.
plastic tipped dipped (rubber around handle) 7A's or 5Bs are my go-to weapon of choice for speed and attack
Custom Ringo Starr purple dipped sticks, metal brushes, cymbal mallets, Hot Rods, tambourine attachment to standard stick, polyurethane light-up on impact sticks I got as a gift from Disney from my cousin Sarah
not that I travel with my kit much, but a great holder for my tuning keys and sticks
For those of us with Fenders under $1500, the "Deluxe Gig Bag" is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop lol. This was a gift- low on storage, but high on protection. It's served me well.
wonderland of sounds
I wanted 88 weighted keys and a few great, simple piano sounds. This does the job in one of the easiest to use interfaces you'll find. Some distortion from the pitch wheel when sitting between sessions but a solid keyboard
Hanging down in my studio, those are my wind chimesssss
basically an amp with multiple inputs on a great sounding, two-way speaker
Plans to get a second to do stereo mix in the studio with electric drumset
HD 24 Bit Multitrack mixer that I use to fully mic the Ludwig drum set and send a stereo pan output into the DAW or GarageBand
HD PreAmp for running Microphone and bass through for warmth and excellent EQ ing
MicroKorg synthesizer and workstation with Vocoder Mic
